Sanctions against Russia?

Letter to
European Union External Action Service

If you really care about democracy, I think you should realize that a vast majority of the people in Crimea want to belong to Russia - and also respect that. Even if you would have preferred they would not, feel dissapointed that over 95% voted for that option, or had preferred the referendum never took place.

I am sure Ukraina deserves a better government than the one they had and a much better one than the non-elected government they have now. Above all, they deserve to have a government that they have elected themselves and that can represent the whole country - or whatever will be left of it. The absence of international pressure to achieve this has, in combination with the agenda of the nationalistic regime that took over, highly contributed to the situation we have right now.

I am convinced that many people in Europe understand what the US, and to some extent the EU, is doing as having much more to do with a power game than genuine interest in protecting the democratic rights of citizens on the Crimea peninsula.

To avoid further escalation, in my opinion you should clearly distance yourselves from US aggression and insults (the most recent one by mr McCain: "Russia is, more or less, a giant gas station pretending to be a real country"). I hope we in Europe can do a lot better than that?
And secondly, distance yourself from the ultra-nationlistic regime in Kiev that has taken over. Instead, demand an elected government to replace it.
Thirdly, try to look at the long term interests of european citizens. Like peace and prosperity, for example.
